I tested them out & they don't seem to be even close. The DeNose clearly softens the image & yet still does a lot less film grain reduction. It is better than just a blurr but not close to Grain Surgery. I tried the pixel chooser but it didn't help much (tried lightness, and various ranges etc.)-just reduced the blurring in various parts of the image. The shot is a black and white 1935 16mm film & needs serious grain reduction on the entire image from dark parts to the light. ![]() Deprecated – replaced by BCC Noise Reduction We recommend use of BCC Noise Reduction instead of the older BCC Denoise. The newer BCC Noise Reduction filter contains more advanced grain suppression techniques. Overview The BCC DeNoise filter removes unwanted pixel noise from an image. I just used the default setting on Grain Surgery. Any advice or as anyone compared these two options yet? Hi Ted, There is a reason for he results that you have observed. The filters that you are comparing are intended for two wholly separate purposes. The Boris DeNoise filter does axactly what the name implies. It enables the user to remove unwanted high-frequency video noise from the image clip, but unlike Grain Surgery it was not designed to handle real film grain. However, having said that we do have built into RED 3GL a new filter which was specifically designed to handle the removal/reduction of real film grain - it's called DeGrain and it compares favorably to the Grain Surgery filter. The Boris DeGrain filter is currently only available with Boris RED but it is slated for inclusion in the next revision of Boris Continuum Complete. I hope this helps to explain your observations and the differences between these two very different filters. Cheers, Peter. It's not in the documentation or in the menus, because you have to register to receive it. Once you register (online or via fax), go to the downloads page on our website. You get five free filters along with PDF documentation (BCC DeGrain, BCC DeNoise, BCC Match Grain, BCC Radial Blur, and BCC Spiral Blur ). Microsoft autoroute express europe 98 download. These filters required additional development and we didn't want to delay the release, so we've posted them as downloads instead. It is mentioned in the Release Notes, but due to the ever increasing size of our documentation, I can see how people might miss this. I hope that helps.
